After a long day of exploring London’s best peaceful spots, what you really need is a cup of tea in… a peaceful spot. And nestled in Berwick Street, Soho, there’s a perfect place.
Yumchaa means ‘drink tea’ in Cantonese, or ‘tasty tea’ in English slang. And they don’t disappoint: enter the shop to be greeted by tea flavours galore, from burnt toffee caramel black tea, through lemon sherbet roobios, to mint white teas, and chilli hot chocolate thrown in there, too.
What’s more, pick up a pack of their Good Listener tea and you’ll be helping a good cause as well as your tastebuds: 75p from the sale of every bag goes to the Central London branch of the Samaritans. I’ve tasted it, and I’m hooked.
And CAKE. Oh, the cake. Taste their millionaire’s shortbread and taste heaven on a plate… how can you refuse?
Opening times: Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm; Saturday, 10:30am to 8pm; Sunday, 11am – 8pm
Nearest Tube: Oxford Circus of Tottenham Court Road
