Valentine’s Mansion, Ilford: East London’s hidden gem

This is Valentines Mansion, a stunning 17th century house in Valentines Park, Ilford. It was built for Elizabeth Tillotson, the widow of the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1696; added on to and renovated in Georgian times, it stood empty for 15 years before being transformed again into the house you can visit (for free!) today.

An incredible place that’s as quiet as you can get… And just 10 minute walk from Gants Hill on the central line!

Nearest Tube: Gants Hill
